AC Black Flag Resynced: 75 Tips & Tricks
75 quick-hitting tips from developer deep dives, post-launch testing (Boomstick Gaming, PowerPyx), and original Black Flag knowledge that still applies in Resynced.
Combat
- Perfect parry timing: Watch the weapon arm, not the body. Parry when they commit to the downswing.
- Dual-wield combo: Sword → Sword → Pistol shot is faster than three sword swings. Weave pistols mid-combo.
- Hidden Blade is stealth-only now. Don't try it in open combat — you'll be forced to swords.
- Rope Dart at Sequence 3: Use it to pull snipers off rooftops before they spot you.
- Heavy attack breaks guards: Charged heavy swings break through enemy blocking.
- Kick enemies off ledges: Near a railing or rooftop edge? Kick, don't stab — instant kill.
- Smoke bombs work on groups: Drop one and chain assassinate up to 4 enemies while they're blinded.
- Berserk darts cause chaos: Hit a brute with a berserk dart and watch him clear the room for you.
- Counter-kill chains: After a perfect parry kill, immediately flick toward the next enemy and attack to chain.
Naval
- Boarding gives 2x loot vs sinking. Always board if you have time.
- Spyglass tells you what's on board — check cargo before engaging.
- Captain's Lockbox: New option on frigates and Man-o-Wars. Extra Reales. Always take it.
- Ram Dash unlocked early: Recruit the Padre (Punta del Caracol) — don't wait for legendary ships.
- Heated shot melts hulls. Swap to it when you're close and they can't dodge.
- Shrapnel barrels shred sails. Use when being chased to slow pursuers.
- Deadman's Cohort: Manually aim each bomblet — spread them across the deck.
- Don't fight between The Twins: HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign will sandwich you.
- Mortar from range first, then close in with broadsides. Don't open with a ram.
- Repair with boarded ships: After winning, use their ship to repair the Jackdaw for free.
- Lower Wanted Level via boarding: Capture a small merchant ship and choose "lower notoriety."
Stealth
- Crouch anywhere now. Use it even in places the original didn't allow.
- Fish schools hide you from sharks while diving. Swim into them when stalked.
- Dive Anywhere: Swim underwater to approach ships and shore targets unseen.
- Tailing missions don't desync on fail — if caught, objectives switch. Don't restart.
- Whistle from cover to lure guards one by one.
- Sleep darts put enemies down silently. Berserk darts make them fight each other.
- Plantation keys: Each plantation has a unique way to get the warehouse key — explore dialogues.
- Eavesdrop from rooftops: The new crouch lets you get closer without being seen.
Money & Resources
- Boarding doubles all loot. Never sink a ship you can board.
- Kenway's Fleet runs in the background. Send ships on missions before doing land content.
- Harpoon whales for fast Reales. One whale = more money than 3 merchant ships.
- Upgrade Fisherman's Wharf early — passive income adds up over a full playthrough.
- Treasure Dealer increases fleet trading profits. Upgrade it before sending big fleet missions.
- Sell cargo you don't need at the Harbormaster. Hold onto Wood and Metal for upgrades.
- Bribe officers at ports to clear wanted level quickly — costs money but saves time.
- Fort captures open trade routes which increase passive income from nearby fleet missions.
- Playa chests (small islands) now have more loot. Visit every one you see.
Exploration
- Follow Sea (autopilot): Set a waypoint, turn it on, enjoy shanties.
- Pathfinder: See your route on the water while staying in control.
- Skip Time: Hold the button to switch day/night. Night = easier stealth, day = better visibility.
- 10 new shanties tied to quests. Don't just collect floating pages — do officer questlines too.
- Shanty wheel: D-pad down to pick a song. D-pad right hold to silence.
- Photo mode: Full camera controls for that perfect Caribbean sunset.
- Ship pet: You can keep a cat or monkey on the Jackdaw. Change it in the Captain's Cabin.
- Playas have Animus Keys now — unlock exclusive outfits and weapons.
- Plantations tell micro-stories. One has a pet crocodile named Lucia. Talk to NPCs.
- Tavern minigames: 3 playable games. Tip the jar to increase Royal Convoy spawns.
Settings & Tech
- Change difficulty anytime: Getting frustrated? Drop that specific slider mid-mission.
- HUD fully customizable: Turn off individual elements for immersion or keep everything for learning.
- Performance mode (60fps) for combat-heavy sections. Quality mode (4K) for exploration and photo mode.

🎥 Verified Tips from Boomstick Gaming (Jul 2026)
- Rope dart pull into stealth grass — faster than whistling and won't alert nearby enemies. Scorpion-pull them straight into cover.
- Havana early trinket — between two buildings near the starting area, find the Exotic Sea Shell trinket. Equip it to get more materials from skinned animals.
- Dry Tortuga fort ASAP — your very first fort target. Capturing it unlocks the Double Shot for front cannons, a massive early-game power spike.
- Mash roll to negate fall damage — tap roll right before landing from any height. No damage.
- General Store level 2 → buy the Pistol Sword. Its charged melee fires two FREE shots that don't consume sidearm ammo.
- Fast travel to ship — open the map, highlight your ship, fast travel directly onto it. New in Resynced.
- Manor facade = passive gold — build it immediately at Great Inagua. Generates money as you play.
- Wall corner cover shooting — approach a corner to auto-snuggle, then pre-aim and pop out to shoot like a cover shooter.
- Captain Morgan's outfit — north side of Black Island, free legendary chest. No stats, just looks cool.
- Board ships solo via swimming — jump off the Jackdaw, swim to a ship, climb aboard, kill everyone yourself. No wanted level increase.
- Legendary katana via Animus keys — exchange keys for the katana: 4 chain takedowns + extended parry/dodge timing. Best early-game weapon.
- Underwater coast chests — use Observe to scan shallow water around islands. New chests hidden there that didn't exist in the original.
- Eye in the Dark project — activate in Animus → Projects. 5 nodes in unlocks Dark Animus flintlock pistols: shots ricochet to nearby enemies.
- Throw smoke bombs — you can now manually aim and throw them, not just drop at your feet. Toss into groups for multi-takedowns.
- Swivel cannon detonates barrels — launch barrels behind you, then shoot them with swivel cannon for massive AoE damage.
- Rope dart → trip combo — quick-access rope dart pull followed by leg sweep. Breaks stance, sets up ground finisher. Instant kill on basic enemies.
- Wait at dock — your crew throws hooks and pulls the ship to the dock. Faster than jumping out and swimming.
- Hold D-pad right to change time of day — on flat ground. KBM: hold X.
- Captain Drake's outfit — underwater chest off Sacrifice Island (far west of map). Another free legendary skin.
- Leave weak ships as repair stations — board a weak ship but don't finish it. When your health gets low against a bigger enemy, go back and repair from that ship.
- Shoot brutes priming grenades — hit them with a pistol or rope dart while they're cooking a grenade. They drop it at their feet.
- Chain takedown through brutes — start a chain after perfect parry, then shoot the brute once with your pistol to continue the chain through them into other enemies.
- Swivel cannon during boarding — immediately jump on the swivel cannon when boarding and shoot explosive barrels on the enemy ship. Fewer crew lost.
- Farm warehouses on cooldown — open map legend → warehouse tab to see which ones are off cooldown. Fast travel back and loot them again.
- Adjust reticule during barrages — with Double Shot or Heated Shot, move the reticule while firing to paint the target and expose different weak points.
